Along the coast
life plays out its song of sweet sincerity.
I drift with the sound of crashing waves;
I feel the heartbeat of the planet
whispering its song
as I stroll through the echoes of time.
Tiny crabs forage for morsels
hidden in the cracks along the breakwaters;
I'm tempted to shed my inhibitions
and melt into this timeless beauty.
I can feel the presence
of all who came before us,
watching the rhythms of the surf
as it rolls out to catch the sun
then disappears beneath the waves.
The day wanes;
darkness comes to cover the beauty of this place.
In time
the sun peeps over the horizon
and gives us another chance to be human.
