Closed Cocoon

by Juanita DeHart
Emerging from dark chrysalis transformed
From worm to winged creation born anew
Embraced by sun which energized and warmed
To distant realms of destiny I flew

Ascending on the wind to unknown heights
Eyes looking down on paths where visions crawled
One inch became a mile when hope took flight
And mountains which were huge seemed rather small

Appreciation vibrates in my heart
Though tight and cramped were hidden days of bliss
I'm thankful for that separate time apart
For nothing of significance was missed

Because of closed cocoon I now can soar
To places which were only dreams before
