Eager for Spring

by Carolyn Willis-Smith
Adjusting the thermostat...
The summers heat
is still upon me...
Wishing for Autumn...
Autumn leaves,
brown and gold
fall silently.
Not one word do they whisper
of winter's approach
and yet,
I know it comes slowly...
Harsh and cold,
the winter's wind
blows against my skin,
reminding me
that spring is still so
very far away...
New life...
New love...
White roses...
Butterflies, hummingbirds...
And you.
